TATTOOED

TATTOOED
/tat·tooed/
adjective

proud
to be different

Just like thousands of years ago, tattoos accompany us when we see something a little clearer than before, more defined. And now that we see it, we know it’s ours, it’s a part of us, truly.
A tattoo accompanies us in the transition between point A and point B.
It puts a period at the end of the sentence. It makes it real, unchangeable, ours. A tattoo is there to tell us that we are ready, we are genuine, we already have amazing things in our lives that we are proud of, and we don’t care about being different. On the contrary, we are proud of it.

Today, we are something more than yesterday, and our bodies now tell us a bit more than before, to others but especially to ourselves. We are a walking Post-it note for our moments of forgetfulness. When we forget how amazing we are, we look at ourselves in the mirror in the morning, and our bodies remind us. And damn it, getting a tattoo is an epic moment for our future, and I am thrilled that you are part of this new tribe of the tattooed: maybe still flawed people, but even cooler than before.

Now, let me tell you a little something about the PSYCHOLOGY OF CHANGE to help you understand a bit more about what happens in your psyche when you get a tattoo. Because even if you might not be aware of it, you are doing something tremendous for your future. That’s why.

To make things super simple, an intelligent psychologist came up with THE METAPHOR OF THE ELEPHANT to explain how changes occur. Real changes, not fake ones. Because, indeed, fake changes exist, as the French say so well: plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose – the more things change, the more they stay the same – an epigram by the satirist Alphonse Karr that has become dear to modern psychologists as well. Or, similarly but in reverse, our famous Italian phrase: if we want everything to stay the same, everything must change – taken from The Leopard and becoming a symbol of Italian mentality, which wants things to remain the same, but since the world changes, things must continuously change to stay the same. ^_^

Did I confuse you? Actually, that unnecessary preamble aside, I wanted to tell you about the METAPHOR OF THE ELEPHANT. Real changes can resemble a LITTLE MAN leading an ELEPHANT from POINT A to POINT B. The little man represents our mind, the logical part that understands the importance of change. On its own, it’s not enough: everyone knows that smoking is harmful, but they keep doing it. Then there’s the elephant, which is our strength, our action, the part of us that actually DOES, acts, and is the driving force of change. And then there’s the path from A to B, which is the road we must face. When we want to achieve change, we can work on the little man by providing accurate information about the journey and why they should embark on it. Or we can give peanuts to the elephant to make it move. Or we can smooth out the bumps on the path and remove obstacles.

BY GETTING A TATTOO, YOU GIVE A LOT
OF PEANUTS TO YOUR ELEPHANT.

Your little man was already informed; otherwise, the desire to get a tattoo would never have arisen.
Then, perhaps during the conversation with the tattoo artist, you receive new stimuli, and surely what you do with an epic gesture like getting a tattoo gives a tremendous push to your personal elephant.
I’m very curious about where your journey will take you, but one thing is certain: you are now on your way.
TRANSITION. I think that’s the real keyword hidden in a tattoo.

With love, but always irreverent
