AGAPANTO – love

the meanings of flowers we know are always so many and various….
and what is the meaning of the flower AGAPANTHO?

In the Greek Philosophy of Plato, Pythagoras, Heraclitus and so on – and consequently also in the Greek language of these little guys – there are three different names for the word LOVE

Eros, Philos and Agape

The Greeks coined three different words to represent the three different stages of Love, because one word seemed rather reductive, evidently

let’s see them and understand them

Eros is the most famous word of all, it has become viral and used worldwide

Eros is the first stage of love, the carnal stage
is the sexual appeal
it is the first approach
it is the first way of getting to know each other

there are relationships that begin and end with Eros and others that then go on

they go on to get to the Philos
the second stage, the second goal, the second base
is deep sharing
the deep knowing
as if a kinship, a family relationship, a close bond is established

Philos actually is also brotherly love, by blood or by choice, between two brothers or between two friends, or between two elements that have gone from eros to philos

Eros therefore can exist without philos
Philos can exist without Eros

and Agape therefore what the heck is it?

Agape is pure and unconditional love

to mean, it is the love a dog has for its owner, I think ^_^

it is Loving regardless
is the sublimation of Love to its ultimate and powerful stage
it is the Love of God
it is Love without boundaries
it is Love in spite of everything

it is that Love that conquers all
it is that Love of which so much is spoken, which wins even against war

is the true essence of life, probably

and the legend says that the standard human being can never experience this kind of love, because humans – you know – always put limits and compromises, on something, place, situation, person, concept, time, idea, frustration, condition, moment, context etc etc etc etc and blah blah blah

AGAPE is perfect, pure, unconditional Love, and even if the legend were true, we can always aim to get there, can’t we?

PS: sorry, we were talking about the Agapanthus flower?
I think it’s understood what its meaning is, right?

so, you were looking for ideas for a love tattoo?
now you have it ^_^

with love, but always irreverent
