                	TATTOOS & SKIN IMPERFECTIONS
can you get a tattoo? yes? no? why?
here we are in another episode dedicated to hypochondriacal questions about tattoos, all legitimate, of course, because this is a dark world full of legends, and we no longer know what’s true and what’s not
in this episode, we talk about skin imperfections such as moles, vitiligo, psoriasis, varicose veins, skin spots, and other miscellaneous issues
ready, set, go, let’s start this new episode
CAN YOU TATTOO OVER MOLES?
logically, you can, but it’s best not to
what does that mean?
a mole is simply an anomaly in the skin that manifests as a spot
however, moles over time can transform into melanomas, skin tumors that can only be diagnosed by looking at them closely with a magnifying glass
and guess what?
if the mole is tattooed, the dermatologist can’t see it and, therefore, can’t check its condition or diagnose a potential melanoma
so, tattooing a mole doesn’t create any problems immediately, but it could cause issues in the future
CAN YOU TATTOO OVER SKIN SPOTS?

absolutely yes
spots are just an anomaly in the concentration of melanin in the skin that manifests as a spot, lighter or darker than the surrounding skin, but the skin is perfectly healthy
CAN YOU TATTOO OVER VITILIGO SPOTS?
yes, definitely
vitiligo is only a partial or total lack of melanin that creates a different skin color, turning it white as milk
however, the skin is perfectly healthy, absolutely normal, without any present, past, or future issues
so yes, yes, yes, you can tattoo over the white spots on vitiligo-affected skin
CAN YOU TATTOO IF YOU HAVE PSORIASIS?
no and maybe
psoriasis is a condition that creates abnormal plaques on the skin,
making it uneven and, therefore, not tattooable
technically, it’s impossible to do so; a line wouldn’t be a line
psoriasis is a disease that can increase over time and appear on new areas of the body not previously affected
so, if you have psoriasis and perhaps… I don’t know… have plaques on your elbow but want to get a tattoo on your shoulder, can you get tattooed?
logically, yes, but it’s not highly recommended
why?
because psoriasis could appear in the future on the shoulder and make the tattoo unfortunately ugly
also, psoriasis could be triggered in new areas —like the shoulder— following a tattoo because the tattoo is stress for the skin, and psoriasis can be triggered due to stress
so, it’s not recommended to get tattooed if you have psoriasis, but it’s not forbidden either
once you are aware and consenting, assume the risk, and don’t blame the tattoo artist in case of psoriasis flare-up, then you can get tattooed
on currently intact skin, of course
alternatively, I could advise you to choose a tattoo artist with a gentle hand so that skin stress is lower, and a new flare-up is less likely ^_^
CAN YOU TATTOO OVER VARICOSE VEINS?
it depends ^_^
it depends on the tattoo artist’s experience in working on imperfections
and the “severity” of the situation
varicose veins are unusual dilations of the veins, and there are varicose veins that are slightly dilated, visible under the skin but flat to the tattoo, and can be easily tattooed
after all, the tattoo stops within the skin, and even if they are visible, varicose veins are still under the skin
if varicose veins are raised, and maybe a lot… well, each case needs to be evaluated individually, so: it depends ^_^
CAN YOU TATTOO OVER SCARS?

this is a huge chapter that deserves its own movie,
not just a cameo in a TV series ^_^
TATTOOS & SCARS: Everything you need to know
END.
ror now, at least, I can’t think of any other particular cases
do you? do you have other questions? write to me ^_^
with love, but always irreverent
