the Whale is the largest living being to inhabit the world, the one that seems to have populated it since its creation, the one that has always been there and seems like it will always be

in tattoos, the Whale takes on the meaning of an eternal guardian of the world’s secrets, a protective mother of wisdom, the one who can know all worlds and traverse them, precisely because she can traverse them, she can know the gossip of all worlds

and she’s good at it because she keeps them for herself, well, for themselves

because Whales among themselves, sing and gossip a lot

whales don’t see very well

it seems normal to me going from the sunlight outside the water to the total darkness of the ocean depths must not be easy for a visual system, but the Whale doesn’t care; she sings, and her sounds bounce around, telling her about the world

so, the Whale sings all day, wanders through the worlds,

and gossips, telling everything she encounters

she tells it to all the other Whales too

they hold concerts and meetings down there, but only they understand each other

in this way, they transmit the knowledge of the world, the ancient secrets, the new ocean maps, and the gossip heard by the seagulls when they last surfaced an hour ago, took a breath of fresh air, did a few jumps, and flapped their fins back and forth

yes, because the Whale lives underwater, in the deepest depths of the sea, but she breathes fresh air at the surface

""

she moves back and forth between depths of 2000 meters and the sea surface, condemned to this continuous up and down

the Whale is condemned to belong to both worlds, but in reality, maybe she doesn’t belong to either

always divided between water and air

but she is also the only marine creature that knows what the sky looks like, what the air is like, what happens beyond that boundary called the surface

the Whale knows it, has seen it, lives it, and at the same time has seen the sea at every level

who knows if the fish know what the sky looks like? Who knows what they see down there?

the Whale, on the other hand, knows everything

she knows the sea that the land dwellers do not know and knows the sky that the mariners do not know

and so, the Whale takes on another symbolism in tattoos: the Whale will always remain the strange one, the weirdo, the creep, the eccentric, the different one, the one who is not satisfied with the sea but not with the sky either

she is the one who navigates the impervious waters of her subconscious, who swims deep within it and occasionally resurfaces, the one who closes in on herself and traverses the dark worlds that make her up, the one who is not afraid to do it or maybe even if she is afraid, she does it anyway

she’s the tough one who doesn’t belong to any world, or maybe to all, but in any case, as curious as hell, she dives right in.

With love, but always irreverent
