who do you think you are?&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>no, I&#8217;m just dyslexic<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>actually, I&#8217;m not only dyslexic, but I have got plenty of SLD &#8211; <em>specific learning disabilities<\/em> &#8211;<br \/>\nsuch as dysgraphia, dysorthography, dyscalculia\u2026. but usually it is just called: <em>dyslexia<\/em><\/p>\n<p>therefore, I am dyslexic<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>what does it exactly mean to be dyslexic?<\/strong><br \/>\nthe clich\u00e9 tells us that a dyslexic person is a child who can&#8217;t read, perhaps less intelligent<br \/>\nthan the other children, who is not good at school and that he can\u2019t keep up<\/p>\n<p><strong>this is not true, it&#8217;s actually much more than this<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I, for example, have always been a good student, instead of not keeping up, I was always ahead<br \/>\nand my IQ of 151 is well above average<br \/>\n<strong>this is because I&#8217;m a stubborn asshole<\/strong>, an antisocial who <em>has always<\/em> lived in her bubble, and<br \/>\nso even as a child I didn&#8217;t study as my teacher wanted, but I followed my ideas and my mental schemes to understand things my own way<\/p>\n<p>but I&#8217;m still dyslexic, my brain works differently, <strong>it works for images<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-28706 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.unaltroblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/pillola-300x163.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"405\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.unaltroblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/pillola-300x163.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.unaltroblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/pillola-1030x560.jpg 1030w, https:\/\/www.unaltroblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/pillola-768x418.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.unaltroblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/pillola-600x326.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.unaltroblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/pillola.jpg 1417w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 405px) 100vw, 405px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>recent researches using MRI studies have shown how a dyslexic brain works<br \/>\ncompared to a typical brain, i.e.:<br \/>\n<strong>if you say the word \u201capple\u201d to a neurotypical person<\/strong>, the left side of the brain is immediately activated. this contains the semantics of the language, the meaning of the word <em>&#8220;apple&#8221;<\/em> and all the information<br \/>\nconnected to it<br \/>\nright after that, the left hemisphere of the brain communicates with the right hemisphere and goes straight to open the file of the apple image<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>the dyslexic brain, on the other hand, works the other way around<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>this means that <strong>if you say the word &#8220;apple&#8221;<\/strong> to the dyslexic, the right hemisphere of the brain is immediately activated and starts looking for an image of an apple <strong>and if it finds it<\/strong>, the right hemisphere<br \/>\nclicks the button and speaks with the left hemisphere which opens the file of the meaning of the word <em>&#8220;apple&#8221;<\/em> and all the notions connected to it<\/p>\n<p><strong>yes, I know&#8230; you also saw the image of an apple<\/strong> when you read the word <em>&#8220;apple&#8221;<\/em> straight away<br \/>\nit&#8217;s normal<br \/>\neverything works in nanoseconds so you cannot notice this difference, if not in<br \/>\nlaboratory<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>but what does it mean if a brain works for images or for<br \/>\nmeanings?<\/h3>\n<p>it means that if I &#8211; dyslexic &#8211; do not know the image of an apple it will be very difficult for me,<br \/>\nif not impossible, to match it with the meaning of the word &#8220;apple&#8221;<br \/>\nand there are many many many words that do not have an image to match to them, including :<br \/>\nnouns, pronouns, many verbs, conjunctions\u2026. many words that you actually learn at school<\/p>\n<p>the dyslexic brain is no dumber than the neurotypical<\/p>\n<p><strong>it just runs on different tracks,<\/strong> <strong>with a different path,<\/strong> but, <em>rightly so<\/em>, the school system is designed and based on neurotypicals and not on dyslexics or all the others neurodivergents, because they are only a small percentage hanging around 4-6%<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-28709 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unaltroblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/cervello-fuck-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.unaltroblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/cervello-fuck-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.unaltroblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/cervello-fuck-80x80.jpg 80w, https:\/\/www.unaltroblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/cervello-fuck-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.unaltroblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/cervello-fuck-550x550.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.unaltroblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/cervello-fuck-600x600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.unaltroblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/cervello-fuck-100x100.jpg 100w, https:\/\/www.unaltroblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/cervello-fuck.jpg 945w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>what the hell does this have to do with me and my tattoos?<\/h3>\n<p>It has a lot to do with it<br \/>\nI CAN&#8217;T UNDERSTAND WHAT I CAN&#8217;T SEE<br \/>\n<em>and how do I draw what I can&#8217;t understand?<\/em><br \/>\nhow can I draw a phoenix that doesn\u2019t exist in nature and I have never seen one?<\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t do it, <strong>I can&#8217;t do it<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>what about a mermaid?<\/em> the same<\/p>\n<p>yes\u2026 I&#8217;ve seen them on google and also in cartoons, but I&#8217;ve never seen them live, <em>I never<\/em><br \/>\n<em>experienced them<\/em>, my brain cannot <strong>really<\/strong> understand what the hell a phoenix could look like<br \/>\nand reading its meaning on wikipedia doesn&#8217;t help the cause, the two hemispheres don&#8217;t communicate<br \/>\nif they don&#8217;t have the right bridge that connects them<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>so why don&#8217;t I accept all the projects that people ask me to do?<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>why are there stories that can ignite images to me and therefore their meanings and instead, why are there stories, <em>albeit beautiful<\/em>, that just don&#8217;t ignite anything to me?<\/p>\n<p><strong>because I&#8217;m dyslexic<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>my brain works this way and I love very much my brain and I respect very much my job<br \/>\n<strong>and so no, I don&#8217;t accept all the projects<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I could easily draw some crap for a story I don&#8217;t understand, but it wouldn&#8217;t be<br \/>\na true drawing, felt, understood, interpreted<br \/>\nit would be nothing, it would just be random lines<br \/>\nI could not ignite sparks in your life<br \/>\nI could not create a drawing with a soul, that overwhelms your emotions<br \/>\nI could not do what I love to do and I know I can do well<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>so I don&#8217;t do it <em>and I say no<\/em> to the stories that unfortunately, for some cerebral reason, fail<br \/>\nto make my two hemispheres communicate<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>with love, but always irriverent<\/p>\n<h3>L A D Y S A R A<\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
