You too have heard about it, right?<\/p>\n

the friend (or someone you don’t know at the cafe’) that said:
\n“tattoos in even numbers? definately not! they bring bad luck<\/strong>!!!!”<\/p>\n

and we have always believed to that…<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

it is a matter of fact<\/strong>, a historic fact, a blatantly obvious thing.
\nit is definately like this, tattoos must be in odd numbers otherwise it brings bad luck, come on<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

but why?!?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/strong><\/p>\n

well, there is an old maritime tradition from where this legend has evolved<\/p>\n

this legend says that sailors<\/strong>\u00a0that had to leave for their\u00a0first sea voyage<\/strong>\u00a0would get their first tattoo prior
\nto embarkation for good luck in the long journey ahead<\/p>\n

then, they’d get\u00a0a second tattoo<\/strong>\u00a0in the destination port<\/p>\n

and finally a\u00a0third tattoo<\/strong>\u00a0once they returned to the orginial port, when they were home, home sweet
\nhome<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Having even numbers tattoos\u00a0meant being away from home<\/strong>, from the family and above all being at the
\nmercy of events, of the sea and of the wind.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Therefore they used to say that tattoos in even numbers were a sign of bad luck,<\/strong><\/h3>\n

because it was not a pleasant situation and the sailor was just hoping to get safely back home, to his
\nloved ones and to the tranquillity and serenity of a safe routine.
\n(women in the past maybe used to be more easy-going than modern women?? no idea, just a thought of\u00a0<\/em>mine…)<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Therefore sailors were not happy about having an even number of tattoos and couldn’t wait to\u00a0get to the end of the sea crossing<\/strong>\u00a0and be able to have an odd number of tatoos.<\/p>\n

. that’s the legend .<\/strong><\/h3>\n

(what did you believe it was all about?)<\/p>\n

then the superstition went on with the following journeys and the sailors (after the first baptism)\u00a0kept on getting \"\"tattoed
\n<\/em>once they reached their destination and once they were back home again
\n<\/em>
\nthey signed every journey<\/strong>\u00a0they brought to an end, every single sea crossing that ended well<\/p>\n

and so tattoos were always even when they were far from home but on their way home,
\nand odd in number when they were finally with their families and beloved ones<\/p>\n

I stopped to ask myself<\/strong>\u00a0when my journeys have become too many….. and even more my tattoos.<\/p>\n

now I live my days at the mercy of my storms and passions, having next to me the tranquillity of the home that guides me in my trips, on a safe and sweet path<\/p>\n

(PS: that saint of a man that married me and every day puts up with me, as if it was the first day!)<\/em><\/p>\n

And then<\/strong> <\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

in the legend I find again the oustanding beauty of\u00a0the importance of a tattoo<\/strong>…..<\/p>\n

a tattoo that says:\u00a0I was there<\/strong>, I did it, I survived and I am stronger and prouder than ever before<\/p>\n

. this is what every single new tattoo should tell you .
\n<\/em><\/strong>
\nit should tell about a dream, a memory, a value
\nsomething so certain and strong that can make you say:\u00a0now I feel stronger and prouder of myself!
\n<\/strong>
\neven if maybe our self-confidence alltogether doesn’t change at all, but at least we can say we try, come on …
\n<\/em>
